The referee for the USA-England game was Carlos Simon of Brazil, not Stark of Germany.

OMG not again

Seems like FIFA has capitulated and Cahill will get to play again. 1 game for a direct RED.
LMAO. I guess as nothing got broke there is grounds for that.
Overall it seems MOST are performing adequately. Some are even showing signs of being superior, as they should. They all wear that funny blue and white badge.

[Ah! but note that they get that badge as soon as they are appointed to the international list. In the old days you had to do two "A" class matches and be on the list for two years. Today, it is given; in the past it was earned. RE]

Eric

Was not the England v. USA referee the gentleman from Brazil?

That is why it was a lifetime award and could be worn after going off the list.
And there were several people who got on FIFA lists but never were awarded the badge.
But the guys at the World Cup have certainly earned theirs by the old standards.

OMG not again

So I am a little lost. In most cases I agree with you 2 (EB/RE) but this present selection of officials??? Were they not chosen by the lord of soccer Blatter on demographics as well as performance?? Did I not see that in your blog somewhere??
Clear that one up for me please...

dave van der weele

after watching several games in this world cup i have come to the conclusing that some of the officials are not up to the required standard to officiate in this world cup and after watching the USA versus Slovenia game i am even more convinced i would like to know why the ref did not allow the third goal that the USA scored stand can some one please tell me why

Bob

Eric's comment above was correct. I mixed up the names, and have since fixed the error. [RE]
